Corrovorrin Graveyard

Corrovorrin Graveyard ProjectEnnis tidy towns, with its partners the Clare Roots Society, began our heritage project in January 2010. Corrovorrin Graveyard is a beautiful old graveyard situated just out the Tulla road, as you drive in to Corrovorrin estate. We began by organising a survey of the graveyard which is now complete,in the form of a map, outlining the graveyard and approx 190 graves.

Clare roots society are now carrying out gravestone studies and are documenting all findings. Ennis tidy towns and Ennis Town Council are carrying out a clean up this Saturday 13th March from 11 til 1. A lot of outdoor drinking appears to be taking place in the graveyard and alcohol bottles are visible everywhere. We have contacted the community Guard for the area asking for his help in relation to the drinking and we will work closely with him over the coming months, with the youths of the area. Corrovorrin Graveyard ProjectAlso over the coming months we hope to put in a cleaning schedule for the graveyard with our youth tidy towns committee, and work with the residents in the area, and all interested parties.

All findings in relation to the graveyard and burial plots will be handed over to the library service for documentation and uploading to the internet, also we can use our own web site. We will also work with the Clare Roots Society during heritage week and assist in organising talks regarding the graveyard.
