Ennis Tidy Towns Committee, Ennis Town Council and Clare County Council will officially launch our gum litter challenge ( GLT) on Saturday 12^th May between 1pm and 3pm in the Templegate Plaza, Ennis.

The incorrect disposal of chewing gum is a significant issue for many local authorities. It is an important and emotive issue for local residents as the irresponsible disposal of chewing gum is costly to remove. Promoting a behaviour change among gum droppers through local campaigns helps create a cleaner, more attractive local area that residents, visitors and businesses can enjoy.

Members of the tidy towns Ennis town council and Clare county council and Spin FM will hand out gum wraps during this time and advise residents, visitors, and shoppers about the gum litter taskforce and the need for everyone to work together and do the right thing when they are finished chewing and put the gum in the bin. Ennis tidy towns are delighted to work with the GLT and look forward to engaging the public in the heart of Ennis town.

The Spin FM cars will be there on the day with the Girls also helping out distribute gum wraps. Diary this date meet members of the tidy towns get involved in your town, come along and enjoy the music and the atmosphere?

On hand to help on the day are two great bands who will play live outdoors in the  plaza. First up at 1pm is Aint no Saints followed by Purple Electric at 2pm. We look forward to seeing you !

Calling anyone with a paintbrush to report for duty at Drumbiggle ( just outside the entrance to the Ennis Town Council Offices ) on Tuesday Night, April 17th at 7pm. Ennis Tidy Towns are supplying the paint and are looking for volunteers to give the boarding in the area a make over. This is stage one of this project as more detailed art work will be added over the coming weeks. So come on down and help out and watch this area of town transform. See you there!

Well done to all who participated during the  National Clean Up weekend held in Ennis this weekend in conjunction with An Taisce and Ennis Town Council. Huge numbers took part and approach roads and residential areas were given a facelift with over 40 residential groups participating along with the Ennis Tidy Towns Committee, friends and community groups. Mc Donalds Staff along with Tidy Towns members cleaned approach roads to Ennis and Ennis Town Council staff removed all bags collected.  Community spirit was well in evidence and we hope to see more and more groups involved in community clean ups over the coming weeks

Ennis Tidy Towns would like to thank all those who have participated to date in the community clean ups. Great work has been achieved and we look forward to meeting you on our next scheduled clean up for the Limerick Road on Tuesday April 10th at 7pm. All welcome. Also please note that the town clean up as part of the National An Taisce initiative takes place Saturday April 14th from 11am. Interested residents / community groups are asked to assemble at the Ennis Town Council Offices Drumbiggle. Bags / Gloves will be made available.  See you there!
